Auer discovered the elements Neodymium and Praseodymium with this pocket spectroscope.
After being given instructions from Auer von Welsbach, the Steinheil company in Munich built a spectroscope (on exhibit in the museum) which lead to the discovery of the elements Ytterbium and Lutetium.
